Bryce Gonsalves has committed to join the Marymount University basketball program and will start his freshmen season this coming August. Marymount is a very good academic University and plays in one of the toughest D-III conferences in the U.S. Bryce has a great opportunity and exciting times ahead.
Bryce joins Marymount after two seasons with Global Squad. Over that time Bryce appeared in 30 games for the Dragons. He racked up 105 points and 100 rebounds. Bryce scored a career high 12 points vs JB Hoops in the Crossover Hoops Global Challenge. Last season he helped lead Gold Dragons (Borzager) to a 10-and-7 record, include a 2nd place finish in the Born 2 Ball Tournament.
Bryce was never a major stat-stuffer and his tremendous value rarely showed up in the box score. Bryce’s intangibles are off the charts and allows him to impact the game on many levels. Bryce gained the attention of several college coaches, including Marymount, because of his ability to defend. Bryce has the size (6’5) and length to defend around the basket. He also has the versatility to guard on the perimeter.
Bryce will combine forces with former Global Squad player, Brandon Rogers, who just finished a breakout sophomore season at Marymount. We’re expecting big things from the two Global Squad alums over the coming years.
Congratulations, Bryce!

Viktor Lorenzen has accepted an athletic scholarship to play for Blue Mountain College (BMC) in Mississippi. The BMC Toppers compete in one of the top conferences in all of NAIA Division-I basketball.
Viktor joins BMC after his only season with Global Squad was cut short by a broken wrist. He suffered the injury halfway through his 3rd game with the Gold Dragons on a dunk attempt. Despite playing in less than three games, Viktor did enough to convince the Global Squad coaches he’s capable of playing at high-level.
Viktor is a 6’6 shooting guard with the size, strength, and skill to play immediately. He is an extremely good jump shooter and on-ball defender. BMC’s head coach, JD Parker said of the signing,”Viktor is a sharp kid and very talented. He won’t take long to adjust. We’re very excited.” Coach Parker is right. BMC Toppers just added a stud to their roster.
Congratulations, Viktor!

Xavier Sawyer has accepted an athletic scholarship to play for University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Xavier will be joining a competitive NCAA Division-II program at a school that also features challenging academics.
Xavier first joined Global Squad out of Yongsan International School (YISS) in Seoul, South Korea. At the time Xavier was a 6-foot wiry small forward. He didn’t exactly strike fear in opponents or get college coaches excited. Basically Xavier offered little more than tremendous athletic ability.
Fortunately this athletic ability was at a level which allowed Xavier to have some impressive performances. Against the New Jersey Tarheels Xavier had a 22 point outburst on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and 7-for-8 shooting from the charity stripe. Xavier also finished 3rd on the team in points and steals, despite being the youngest player in a gold uniform.
When Xavier arrived back in Seoul he was a transformed player. With one season of Global Squad under his belt he knew the level he needed to maintain if he was going to reach the NCAA. Xavier moved from his forward position to the point guard spot. He no longer just relied on athletic ability, but he had some skills which made him a real handful. Xavier led YISS in nearly every statistical category. He also set the KAIAK single-game scoring record when he dropped 53 points vs Osan American School.
Xavier returned to Global Squad for a 2nd season and immediately caught the attention of college coaches. Xavier was a nightmare for opposing point guards. His end-to-end speed, slashing ability, and defensive pressure helped to carry his team as he stuffed the stat-sheet. At times he was simply unstoppable.
Xavier led the Gold Dragons in points, assists, steals, and blocks. His best game of the season came vs New York Pride when he tallied 20 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. He also racked up 19 points, 6 assists, and 5 steals vs Keystone Blazers.
Xavier had an impressive 2nd season with Global Squad, but it was clear he needed to spend a full year playing and training in the U.S. There were still parts of his game that needed to be polished. Xavier also needed to face players who could match his athletic ability to force additional skill development.
Xavier decided to finish his high school career at Blair Academy in New Jersey. Blair Academy has one of the best basketball programs in the U.S. and it provided Xavier the chance to play elite basketball while simultaneously getting recruited year-round. This move clearly paid-off in a big way.
The entire point of Global Squad is to help international players, like Xavier, discover college basketball isn’t just a pipe dream. Once Xavier was shown the possibilities he put in the work and never looked back. Global Squad is so proud to be part of Xavier’s journey from Seoul, South Korea to his new home at University of the Sciences.
Congratulations, Xavier! Good luck next season!

Kasper Christiansen will join the Florida International University basketball team this coming school year. The 6’10 forward makes this commitment after helping Massanutten Military Academy reach the prep national tournament.
Kasper spent two seasons as member of Global Squad. He wowed teammates, opponents, and college coaches with high flying dunks and skills unique to a player of his size. Kasper appeared in 36 games for the Gold Dragons, averaging 5.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. The best game of Kasper’s Global Squad career came vs Hoop Dreamz. He racked up 14 points, 5 rebounds, and shot 5-for-8 from the field.
Florida International has landed a player with more potential than anyone to ever play for Global Squad. Kasper is not only 6’10 but also has a 7-foot wingspan. He can drain it from NBA range, he can posterize defenders, he runs the floor, he can create his own shot from the perimeter, and can be a match-up nightmare in the post. Kasper is going to be monster in Conference-USA if his potential is realized.
Congrats, Kasper! We’re excited to see you at the next level!

William Huang and Blake Hlatky, two of the best guards to ever wear a Global Squad uniform, are heading to Muhlenberg College. William, of Shanghai American School (SAS) and Blake, of Brent International School (BISM) will start their freshmen year this coming fall. Both players have the potential and work ethic do some serious damage in the Muhlenberg back court in the coming years.
Despite living over 1,000 miles apart, William and Blake have been virtually joined at the hip since playing on the same Global Squad team in 2015. William was in his 3rd season with Global Squad that year, and his experienced showed. He led the team in assists, steals, and 3-point shooting. Blake, in his 1st Global Squad season, finished 2nd in each of those categories, while leading the team in points and field-goals made. William finished 2nd in those categories. This team was also the first ever Red Dragons team to win an AAU tournament championship.
The bond continued to strengthen as William and Blake faced off in the APAC Tournament each year. William ended up leading SAS to three straight APAC Championships while Blake led BISM to a very respectable 3rd place finish in his senior season.
During the 2016 Global Squad season, William and Blake solidified their place as two GOATs of the program. William moved up to 2nd all-time in steals, 3rd all-time in assists, 3rd all-time in 3-pointers made, and 4th all-time in points. Blake move up to 2nd all-time in 3-pointers made and set the single-game scoring record with 34 points vs HC Elite.
William and Blake have spent the last three years battling as teammates and opponents. They’ve trained together and pushed each other to reach their full potential. Now they will head off to college where they hope to make positive impact on Muhlenberg Basketball.
Congrats, William and Blake! You’ve been two of the hardest working and most driven players we’ve had at Global Squad! It’s going to be an exciting four years!

Andreas Jönsson has signed with West Virginia Tech University for the 2017-18 academic year. West Virginia Tech is one of the top NAIA basketball programs in the United States. This past season WV Tech finished 2nd in the conference and 24th in the national poll. They also qualified for the national tournament before losing to 2nd seed Robert Morris University.
West Virginia Tech assistant coach, Nick Kjaerholt said of the signing,”We are excited about having him part of the family. He is a great fit. If he does well he could compete for a starting spot.”
Andreas joins WV Tech after one season with Global Squad. As a member of the Gold Dragons he appeared in 15 games. Andreas led the team in 3-point percentage, and finished 2nd in both steals and in assists. Andreas had his best game of the season vs one of the top AAU teams in the country. He tallied 13 points, 5 rebounds, and shot 3-for-3 from three. Andreas also set the Global Squad career record for 3-point percentage (48%).
We cannot wait to see how Andreas does at the college level. As a member of Global Squad he showed the ability to defend top U.S. talent. He showed the ability to shoot from range at a lights-out percentage. He also showed the ability to create for teammates. Andreas will have a great challenge as he joins an high-level program, but we know he’s capable of contributing early and often.
Congrats, Andreas! Good luck next season!

Alex Rogat has committed to join Mercersburg Academy for the 2017-18 academic year. This move will provide Alex an opportunity to showcase his talents in the MAPL – one of the most competitive prep basketball leagues in the U.S.
Back in the 90’s, Mercersburg Academy was a hotbed for high level college and professional basketball talent. After a few rebuilding years head coach Sean Crocker is bringing in some impressive impressive recruits, including Alex. In only his 2nd season, Coach Crocker has Mercersburg on a fast-track back to prominence.
Alex joins Mercersburg after one season with Global Squad where he proved to be one of the most versatile players in program history. At 6’7 he could really do it all. On offense Alex can handle the rock, he can shoot from three, he can attack the rim, and he can play any position on the floor. On defense Alex can stick with quick guards, he bothers long athletic wings, he bang in the paint with bigs, and he rebounds like an animal.
Alex set the Global Squad career record for rebounds per game (10.4). He also tied the rebounds for rebounds in a single game (18). His best game of the season came vs HC Elite. Alex racked up 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 blocks.
Alex’s athleticism, versatility, and skill earned him recruiting interest from several D-I, D-II, and D-III programs. One year at Mercersburg will only increase his collegiate basketball options.
Congrats, Alex! Your potential is through the roof and we are very excited to see where you end up after next season!
