Emil Isovic from Kristianstad, Sweden will join one of the best Division-II basketball teams in the nation, Hawaii Pacific University. HPU is not only known for its sports, but for its great academics as well, and only recruits talented student-athletes.
Emil can be likened to the Swedish version of Klay Thompson – a 6’5″ wing who can shoot the lights out and is a lock-down defender. To top it off, Emil has a high motor and is extremely athletic. Emil made the Sweden National Team in 2017 after leading his high school team in Malmo, Sweden to the 2016 National Championship.
Success is the standard for Hawaii Pacific as they finished the 2016-2017 season with an impressive record of 29-3. Given this success, a freshman may not be expected to play much, but the HPU coaching staff project Emil to compete for a starting spot when the season rolls around.
Emil is poised to help HPU defend their PacWest Tournament Conference Championship after his lone Global Squad season. In that single season, Emil placed fifth all-time with 39 three-pointers made and placed eighth all-time in free throw percentage (83%).
He led his Global Squad 2016 team with 214 points and finished third in steals. Emil’s efficiency helped him scored double digits in 12 of 17 games. Against Middlesex Magic he dropped 18 points, 5 rebounds, and went 4-for-8 from three. Emil stuffed the stats sheet with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and shot 4-for-9 from three against CC Elite. To top it off he helped the team capture the Crossover Hoops Global Challenge Championship.
We can’t wait to see Emil step onto the court for HPU. Congratulations, Emil!
