Marcus Larsson, has decided to join the Fork Union Academy basketball program for the 2015-16 academic year. This is great opportunity for Marcus as he makes the move from his home in Sweden.
Fork Union Academy, located in Virginia, has a highly respected basketball program. They have a list of alums who have played NCAA D-I, NCAA D-II, and in the NBA. This includes players like Shammond Williams and Dan Ruland. Marcus will be challenged every step of the way while at Fork Union. He’ll have a full year to get scouted and recruited by NCAA coaches.
Marcus got recruited to play at Fork Union after an impressive summer with Global Squad. He appeared in all 17 games for Gold Dragons (Sweden). Marcus finished 2nd on the team in points (146) and assists (33). At 6’4 and 190 pounds, Marcus created mismatches on both ends of the court. He demonstrated the ability to shoot from long range, put the ball on the floor, and he has the size to score in the paint.
Marcus was most impressive during the Hoop Group Team Camp when he helped lead Gold Dragons (Sweden) to a 4-1 record. Marcus helped Team Sweden to an overtime win over Potomac with a game tying 3-pointer. Then in the final game of the tournament he hit a game winning 3-pointer vs Rumson Fairhaven. These late game heroics vs Rumson Fairhaven capped off the best game of the summer for Marcus. He had 21 points, 3 rebounds, and shot 7-for-14 from the field and 4-for-7 from 3-point range.
As the summer continued Marcus received recruiting interest from several D-II and D-III schools. He also got recruited by Mercersburg Academy before making the commitment to Fork Union Academy.
Marcus was latter named to the All-Global Squad 2nd Team, voted on by the coaches. We’re very excited to see where Marcus ends up after this coming season at Fork Union. We’ll be sure to keep everyone updated on his progress.
Good luck, Marcus!
