The Golden Dragons A-team showed no fear against Team Takeover U17. This despite the fact that Team Takeover is one off the highest ranked AAU squads in the US and features players going to Maryland, Georgetown, and Syracuse. Right from the tip, the game was fast paced. Team Takeover ran out to an early 11-3 lead but the Dragons showed the composure and chipped away. Marc Fabricius, Peter Moller, and D’Ondre Stockman led the charge in the first half cutting the lead to 25-22 at half-time.
Scoring picked up from both teams in the second half. The Dragons mounted a run late in the game and took a three point lead with 1-minute remaining in the game. Team Takeover showed why they’re a top team by responding with a 3-pointer jumper and converting an “and-1” opportunity.
After an empty possession by the Dragons, Team Takeover looked to make it a two possession game. Glen Yang came up big by picking the pocket of Tre Campbell. Stockman took the outlet and was fouled in the act of shooting. Stockman was only able to convert 1 of 2 free-throws. Team Takeover was finally able to put the game away with free-throws of their own and won the game 55-49.
Despite the loss, the Golden Dragons A-team showed they can compete with the best high school players in the US. D’Ondre Stockman led the team in points (14), Bobby Roche had four assists, while Peter Moller and Marc Fabricius led the team in rebounds with 6 apiece.
