Box Score – Recap – Video
The Golden Dragons B-team came out looking to move on from their loss to Cesar Chavez Charter School. Turnovers were the glaring problem in that game and protecting the basketball was a main point of emphasis.
Right from the tip, turnovers plagued the Dragons. The Maryland Crusaders were able to force 6 turnovers in the first 7 possessions and they took an early 20-2 lead. Each time the Dragons looked to make a run, bad passes and sloppy ball-handling led to easy baskets for the Crusaders. The Golden Dragons trailed at the half 28-14.
Alexander Kuhnel decided to take the game over in the 2nd half. He was a force on the glass and the defensive end of the floor. Kuhnel’s energy and leadership single handedly helped the Dragons get back in the game. Twice the lead was cut to single digits. With a few minutes left in the game though, Kuhnel fouled out and the run stopped. The Crusaders put the game away 52-37.
Alexander Kuhnel finished the game one block short of a triple-double. He scored 14 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, blocked 9 shots, and hit 6 of his 12 field goal attempts. The Golden Dragons B-team turned the ball over 32 times. For the second game in a row, turnovers were the reason they couldn’t get the win.
