William Huang and Blake Hlatky, two of the best guards to ever wear a Global Squad uniform, are heading to Muhlenberg College. William, of Shanghai American School (SAS) and Blake, of Brent International School (BISM) will start their freshmen year this coming fall. Both players have the potential and work ethic do some serious damage in the Muhlenberg back court in the coming years.
Despite living over 1,000 miles apart, William and Blake have been virtually joined at the hip since playing on the same Global Squad team in 2015. William was in his 3rd season with Global Squad that year, and his experienced showed. He led the team in assists, steals, and 3-point shooting. Blake, in his 1st Global Squad season, finished 2nd in each of those categories, while leading the team in points and field-goals made. William finished 2nd in those categories. This team was also the first ever Red Dragons team to win an AAU tournament championship.
The bond continued to strengthen as William and Blake faced off in the APAC Tournament each year. William ended up leading SAS to three straight APAC Championships while Blake led BISM to a very respectable 3rd place finish in his senior season.
During the 2016 Global Squad season, William and Blake solidified their place as two GOATs of the program. William moved up to 2nd all-time in steals, 3rd all-time in assists, 3rd all-time in 3-pointers made, and 4th all-time in points. Blake move up to 2nd all-time in 3-pointers made and set the single-game scoring record with 34 points vs HC Elite.
William and Blake have spent the last three years battling as teammates and opponents. They’ve trained together and pushed each other to reach their full potential. Now they will head off to college where they hope to make positive impact on Muhlenberg Basketball.
Congrats, William and Blake! You’ve been two of the hardest working and most driven players we’ve had at Global Squad! It’s going to be an exciting four years!
